Chocolate Geography

The amazing World of Chocolate is something which may interest you. Here is a site in an English school that talks about the Geography of Chocolate. See – you thought I was the only one who could get geography into anything! Follow the tour. It is especially good for S4 Trade and Aid but also a reminder for Higher Industry and Int 2 also. The rest of us can just drool over the chocolate. Remember to wipe your keyboard occasionally please –yuk! Click here.

The Nano

The cheapest car in the world was launched today - by the Indian company Tata who make Tetley tea and Corus steel . The tiny four-seater called the Nano - but instantly dubbed the "People's Car" - was launched at the Delhi Motor Show and will go on sale for just £1,250. In a country like India where only 1 in 10 own a car at the moment this will make a massive difference but what will this do to the environment? Read an article here for more and here and watch the video here.

The company said in a statement that it needed to reduce costs and operate more effectively. Is this a result of high labour costs in Britain and lack of government investment or simply a change in location factors. What do you think? Read the rest here.

The QE2

The QE2 has marked the 40th anniversary of its launch by returning to the stretch of river where it was built.
The vessel was launched from the John Brown shipyard in Clydebank on 20 September, 1967. Watch the short video here on this ship showing the Clyde’s industrial past. Very useful for S4 looking at Industrial change preparing for the test next week! The ship will become a floating hotel in the Middle East.
