Earthquake research in San Francisco


The Pacific and North American tectonic plates grind past each other at a rate of about 39mm a year. They experienced a massive earthquake in 1906 and another in 1989 but another Big One is inevitable; it is just a question of when. No one knows. Scientists are studying the fault line and this article here shows their latest attempts but will this investigation trigger “the big one”? Read also this article.
