Source: UNHCR 2001Geneva Convention - Definition of refugee"Any person who ... owing to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality, and is unable to or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country..." Have a look at this site which has some good examples of people who are forced to flee from their homes because of a variety reasons. Click the map to see good case studies for S grade and Higher/ Int 2. There are a lot of sections to go in to but read the one on Persecution first if posssible.
On the same note I see the UN game on regugee I blogged about earlier Against All Odds in the S garde Refugee / Population section , is being highly criticised for being too violent in parts. I'm thinking of removing it from the blog. Any thoughts on this?
