Samoa and the International Dateline change
Here's one for S1s who studied the International dateline last term briefly. Samoa is located approximately halfway between New Zealand and Hawaii and its population is 180,000 people Samoa now trades more with Australia and China rather than USA therefore they decided to move the dateline to keep it in the same timezone as Australia but this means it misses a whole day this year -today 30th December 2011 doesn't exist in Samoa! Here's the complete story Samoa time changealong with a short video.
