Trade with Europe

Since the former European colonies in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific (ACP) were granted independence, they have had special trade and aid agreements with the European Union (EU). These were designed to keep many of the close relationships they previously had - such as access to European markets for their agricultural products - and provide aid to help the transition to independence. These are about to change and there are many concerns in these countries that the new arrangements will be detrimental to the countries’ development.
